This course provides an overview of the health concerns for women with substance use disorders and the importance of integrated health and behavioral health services for early identification and interventions. It is geared toward both health care providers and individuals working in women’s behavioral health. It also includes a women’s HIV update as a special feature.

This 1.5 hour session will offer service providers specific strategies to address women’s need for connection with others, especially children and family. Participants will gain knowledge and resources to help engage women in substance use treatment and recovery, including an array of family-based approaches.

This course discusses the unique experiences of women who are incarcerated, and the barriers to recovery and re-entry that women leaving incarceration often experience. Presenters will discuss effective interventions and supports for helping women to rebuild their lives as well as community programs and policies.

This course describes strategies and approaches to effectively support and treat women with substance use and co-occurring disorders at coed treatment centers. Presenters will discuss the core competencies needed to address the specific needs of women and to implement gender-responsive, trauma-informed services. The webinar will draw upon the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s forthcoming Guidance Document on Serving Women with SUDs in Co-Ed Settings.
