What does it mean to be an adolescent girl today? This 1.5 hour session provides an overview of girls' development and growth during adolescence and the opportunities and risks that they face. Topics include physical changes, socialization, roles and relationships, identity development, risks, and resiliency as factors affecting girls during this critical time.

A girl’s smile can often hide identity struggles, anxiety, depression, self-loathing and pressure to succeed bubbling under the surface. This 1.5 hour session will review these issues in girls and how their presentation differs from that in adolescent boys and adult women.

Girls' abuse of substances has been increasing. Among youth ages 12-17, girls' non-medical use of prescription painkillers, alcohol, methamphetamine, and most other illicit drugs matches or exceeds that of boys. This webinar will discuss current trends in adolescent girls' substance use as well as effective strategies for intervention, treatment, and support for girls to age 18.

Growing numbers of teen girls are experiencing sexual victimization, involvement in juvenile justice, and homelessness. Interpersonal violence is a dominant and recurring theme in their lives. This 1.5 hour presentation will provide an overview of the elements needed for creating trauma-informed, gender-responsive services to build the environment girls need in order to flourish, and the core values needed for effective programming.
